Default best 2nd prof. for Necro

I'm new to these boards, so please direct me to the appropriate place if this has been answered before -

What is the most powerful second class when combined with a Necromancer not focusing on undead minions?

Moved your post to the correct forum. Sardelac Sanitarium is for game suggestions.

Anyways, there really is no "best" second class in GW. But there are some that are better than others. Typically most Necromancers will go Necro/Monk or Necro/Mesmer. Necro/Elementalist is a decent one, but I would stay away from Necro/Ranger and Necro/Warrior.

Necro/mesmer for me is working AWESOME. The fast-casting really helps you sling skills quick, and so far it has worked good for me. Also, Mesmers have a really decent line-up of health degen skills and things like that.

Necro can't use Fast Casting as that is the Mesmers primary skill..

I use mesmer as secondary but rarely use an mesmer skills..I play 100% necro 99% of the time.

If you know that you'll be using one profession's skills exclusively, I'd suggest using either Monk or Elementalist.

Monk will give you resurrection skills, obviously a huge plus in PvE
Elementalist will give you glyphs, glyph of lesser energy for example can save you 25 energy and since it's unlinked, you can keep your points where they're needed.

Thanks for the responses! A person in my party is part monk, so no problem there. It sounds like either Mesmer (no fast casting though) or Elementalist.

Energy management in PVE for necros is usually only a problem in the first few moments of a fight when nothing is dying. I don't know that I'd waste a place on my bar for Glyph of Lesser Energy. The wards are nice though.

I've been using /Me secondary for SS (arcane echo mostly, usually add in images of remorse too, imagined burden can be helpful too) and also for MM on my hero necros because then I can add interrupts which heros excel at, and he uses signet of lost souls more efficiently than I can.

When I MM personally, I usually go /Mo for Heal Area/Karei's Healing Circle. Works very well with Blood of the Master and maintaining your minions between fights. If you'll be fighting non-human baddies, a fun combo with /Me is to add Virulence and Epidemic (unlinked Mesmer) and Enfeeble. (Always bring an attack skill as a MM or your useless at the start of a fight, if you die in the fight, or if you hit a group of monsters with no corpses.)

LMAO, that's impossible. I just stick with N/ME although you CANT use fast casting. The most popular necro is an SS (spiteful spirit) necro with archane echo (mesmer skill). Just search ss necro, you'll see.
